We aim for a strong, practical experience—not a paper claim of perfection. If something blocks you from finding or submitting an opportunity, tell us and we will work to provide the information another way.
Our commitment
Community Volunteer Services is committed to making its website and volunteer directory accessible to people with disabilities. We want visitors to be able to browse cities, search opportunities, read listing details, and submit information using a keyboard, screen reader, magnification, voice input, or other assistive technology.
Our accessibility target
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. WCAG is an international standard organized around content being perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.
This statement describes our goal and current approach; it is not a claim that every page, submission, or third-party service is fully conformant at all times.
What we are doing
Accessibility practices built into Community Volunteer Services include:
- semantic headings, landmarks, labels, and descriptive page titles;
- keyboard-accessible navigation, forms, buttons, links, and visible focus states;
- text alternatives for meaningful images and icons that do not rely on color alone;
- responsive layouts that support mobile devices, browser zoom, and text resizing;
- color contrast and readable type designed for clarity; and
- reduced-motion support for people who prefer less animation.
We also review accessibility as the design and directory features evolve.
Known limitations
Some content or functions may be provided by third parties, including organization websites, external application forms, and Cloudflare Turnstile security checks. Community Volunteer Services does not control every aspect of those services.
Opportunity descriptions are also submitted by organizations and may vary in clarity or completeness. We review submissions and can correct directory content when a barrier is reported, but we cannot guarantee the accessibility of an organization’s own program, location, website, or application process.
Feedback and assistance
If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need directory information in another format, use the Community Volunteer Services contact page. Please include:
- the page address or name of the opportunity;
- a short description of the problem;
- the browser, device, or assistive technology involved, if you are comfortable sharing it; and
- the best way to reach you and the format or assistance you need.
We will review the request and make a reasonable effort to provide the information or service in an accessible way.
Assessment and updates
We assess accessibility through design and code review, automated checks, keyboard testing, and feedback from real users. Automated testing alone cannot identify every barrier, so we welcome practical reports.
This statement will be updated as our accessibility work and site features change. For general guidance about accessible websites, see the U.S. Department of Justice’s Guidance on Web Accessibility and the ADA.
